Cat loves the process of creating something
beautiful. She has worked with various mediums in
her life including glass, fine metals, pewter metal,
and paint. Gyotaku, or fish printing, seemed like a
natural choice for pursuing that creativity while
living in the lovely Low Country of coastal South
Carolina. She likes both the uniqueness of each
fish's form and the challenge each one presents in
printing.
In her spare time, Cat Wondergem enjoys getting
extremely dirty in her garden (which is in her front
yard, oh my). She also spends many hours playing
with and pampering her 4 crazy critters.
Rick began fishing the pristine lakes of central
Maine at the age of five. After careers as a chair
maker and metalsmith he moved from the
mountains of western North Carolina to the Low
Country of South Carolina and began exploring a
longtime interest in the Japanese art of Gyotaku.
He lives in an historic seaport town on the coast
with his talented partner in life and art, Catherine,
as well as three dogs and one "hellish" cat. He
has come to enjoy creating colorful Gyotaku, or
fish prints almost as much as catching fish.
Almost.....
